1The Challenge
What was the challenge?
Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is one of the world's leading management consulting firms. BCG wanted to create an employee engagement experience that went beyond traditional team-building activities — bringing employees together around a shared purpose: creating meaningful gifts for children while strengthening collaboration, communication, and teamwork. The challenge was to design an activity that fostered genuine connection while keeping the beneficiaries — the children — at the heart of the experience.
2Our Solution
What solution did we design?
The Thought Bulb designed and facilitated a heartwarming CSR-driven team-building experience titled Thanksgiving Elves. Participants stepped into the role of "Thanksgiving Elves," embarking on a journey to create personalised gifts and memorable experiences for children. The programme combined friendly competition, creativity, and social impact into one cohesive and emotionally resonant day.
3How We Did It
How was the programme delivered?
The experience unfolded in four phases. Phase 1 was a Resource Hunt Challenge — a fast-paced treasure hunt where teams earned points to exchange for resource kits. Phase 2 had teams designing and customising canvas bags, shoes, and stationery kits inspired by children's personalities and interests. Phase 3 was the Surprise Interaction, where the children joined the session to co-create final touches and share genuine moments of connection and laughter. Phase 4 was the Showcase & Celebration, where teams presented their creations and the completed gifts were handed over to the children.
4Key Outcomes
What were the results?
The Thanksgiving Elves experience demonstrated how team building becomes even more powerful when connected to a larger purpose. Employees moved beyond traditional workplace interactions and collaborated toward a goal that directly benefited others. The combination of friendly competition, creativity, and community impact created an atmosphere of excitement and genuine connection. Participants experienced stronger collaboration, enhanced communication, greater empathy, and the deep satisfaction of contributing to a meaningful cause.
