Wonder Robo Challenge with New Age Products in Mumbai

New Age Products wanted their offsite to give back — and this time, they wanted it grand. The Thought Bulb answered with the Wonder Robo Challenge in Mumbai: 180 participants, 18 teams, and 18 robots built from scratch — every one of them handed over to an NGO at the end of the day.

1The Challenge

What was the challenge?

For New Age Products, this offsite carried unfinished business. The team had hoped to include a CSR activity at a previous offsite, but it hadn't worked out. So the brief this time was clear and ambitious: make the giving-back element happen, and make it grand — an experience large enough to match 180 participants and meaningful enough to be remembered.

There was a second ask from the leadership team: genuine connection across the group — not rapid-fire speed networking, but something that created real conversations across all 180. The programme needed to open with human connection, carry it into a high-energy build challenge, and close with a social impact outcome everyone could feel proud of.

2Our Solution

What solution did we design?

The Thought Bulb designed a programme in two movements: energisers to break the ice and build genuine connections, followed by the Wonder Robo Challenge — a collaborative build where every robot created by the teams went on to serve a community beyond the room.

Opening — Energisers with a Networking Focus. The day began with energisers designed to get people moving, laughing and talking — including one built specifically around the leadership team's request for deeper conversations, helping participants discover something real about each other rather than just names and job titles.

Main Event — The Wonder Robo Challenge. The 180 participants split into 18 teams, each receiving a robot kit and one goal: build a fully working robot. Every team needed its builders, instruction-readers, problem-solvers and quality checkers. As the robots came together, so did the teams — and when every robot was complete, all 18 were handed over to an NGO partner arranged by The Thought Bulb.

3How We Did It

How was the programme delivered?

The venue in Mumbai was set up with 18 workstations, one per team, each with a complete robot kit, instructions and a dedicated table. The opening energisers ran for around 20 to 30 minutes, with the networking activity specifically structured to move people across teams and spark conversations beyond the usual circles.

The Wonder Robo Challenge then began simultaneously across all 18 stations. Facilitators circulated throughout — checking on progress, helping teams that were stuck without giving the answer away, and keeping the energy and pace consistent across a very large room. A winning team was recognised with a gift hamper. And in the closing ceremony, all 18 completed robots were gathered and formally handed over to the NGO partner — the moment that transformed a team-building day into something that went beyond the team.

4Key Outcomes

What were the results?

The Wonder Robo Challenge gave New Age Products everything the brief asked for: a high-energy, large-scale team experience with a social impact outcome at its close. Building robots turned out to be exactly the kind of challenge that surfaces collaboration — it's hands-on, it requires every person to find a role, and it rewards teams that communicate clearly under time pressure.

The NGO handover changed the register of the whole day. When the last robot was handed over, the room understood that what they'd spent the morning building hadn't just stayed in the room — it had gone somewhere it was needed. For New Age Products, that was the moment the offsite fulfilled its promise.
