1The Challenge
What was the challenge?
Sanofi wanted their team to simply have a great time together — no complex agenda, no heavy debrief. Just genuine fun, real laughter, and an experience that would give people a reason to talk to each other beyond the everyday. The ask was to deliver something genuinely novel and engaging within the second half of their programme — something that would lift the energy of the room and leave people with a shared memory. With Sanofi's event team managing the broader day, The Thought Bulb needed to plug in seamlessly and deliver an experience that stood out.
2Our Solution
What solution did we design?
Terminal Quest was the natural fit — an immersive VR team activity where participants work together inside a virtual environment, solving challenges that require coordination, communication, and competitive spirit. With 8 VR headsets running simultaneously across 4 teams, the activity creates both an intimate team experience and a buzzing, social atmosphere for those watching and waiting their turn. The session was designed for the second half of the day: energisers and ice breakers to warm the group up, followed by Terminal Quest as the centrepiece, and a fun questionnaire woven throughout to keep energy light and playful.
3How We Did It
How was the programme delivered?
Participants were split into 4 teams, each taking on Terminal Quest using 2 VR headsets — meaning teammates literally stepped into the same virtual world and navigated it together. The headsets-to-team ratio created a dynamic where the whole team stayed engaged: those in headsets focused on the mission, while the rest cheered, advised, and waited eagerly for their turn. Ice breakers set the tone early, getting the group loose and ready to play. The fun questionnaire added moments of laughter and surprise throughout, ensuring energy never dipped between VR rounds. The whole session ran to approximately 2.5 hours — enough time to do the activity real justice without overstaying its welcome.
4Key Outcomes
What were the results?
Terminal Quest delivered exactly what Sanofi came for: a genuinely fun, memorable experience that brought their team together in a way that felt completely different from anything else in their programme calendar. The novelty of VR meant first-timers and tech-savvy participants alike were equally drawn in — and the team format ensured no one experienced it alone. The combination of ice breakers, the VR challenge, and the fun questionnaire gave the afternoon a natural rhythm — playful, energetic, and just the right length. Participants left having laughed together, competed together, and shared something genuinely new. 4 teams. 8 headsets. One afternoon that nobody saw coming.
