1The Challenge
What was the challenge?
Siemens hosted a gathering of 25 senior global leaders in Mumbai — participants from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. The objective was to create an engaging and memorable experience that would encourage meaningful interaction, strengthen team bonding in an informal setting, showcase India's rich cultural diversity, and create shared experiences through participation rather than presentations. The challenge was designing an activity that balanced fun, cultural immersion, and collaboration while keeping participants from around the world energised and genuinely engaged.
2Our Solution
What solution did we design?
The Thought Bulb designed and facilitated the Colours of India Challenge — an immersive cultural treasure hunt that transformed the venue into a vibrant journey through India's traditions, flavours, and artistic heritage. Participants were divided into teams and introduced to 5 unique cultural challenge stations: Safa Challenge (Rajasthani turban tying), Regional Gol Gappa Challenge (India's famous street food with a regional twist), Chai Making Challenge (authentic Indian masala chai), Mehndi Challenge (traditional henna design), and Rajasthani Block Printing.
3How We Did It
How was the programme delivered?
The experience began with energetic icebreakers and networking activities that quickly created a lively atmosphere and encouraged participants to connect beyond their usual circles. Teams then navigated across the five cultural stations, each offering an opportunity to learn, collaborate, and experience a different facet of India's cultural heritage. The inclusive design of each station — welcoming for leaders from different nationalities and backgrounds — meant that cultural curiosity became the great equaliser. The format encouraged conversations that extended well beyond business topics.
4Key Outcomes
What were the results?
What made this experience particularly impactful was the diversity of the participant group. Leaders from different parts of the world came together to learn, laugh, and collaborate while exploring India's rich cultural landscape. The interactive format encouraged authentic conversations and relationship-building that no boardroom exercise could produce. 25 senior global leaders. 5 cultural experiences. One day that turned cultural curiosity into a powerful tool for connection — and gave Siemens' international leadership team a shared memory rooted in the colours of India.
