What was the challenge?

Savista's senior leadership team needed more than a conventional team-building session. As experienced leaders, they were looking for something with intellectual depth, cultural richness, and real-world relevance. The ask was ambitious: combine exploration with leadership development, make it immersive rather than instructional, and use the city of Kolkata itself as the setting. The experience needed to feel like an adventure — one that would challenge how these leaders thought, collaborated, and made decisions while navigating one of India's most iconic urban landscapes.

The Thought Bulb crafted the Kolkata Management Quest — a city-wide team adventure built specifically for Savista's 70 senior leaders, featuring 6 distinct local experiences spread across Kolkata's most iconic landmarks. Each stop was designed around a real-world business challenge mirroring workplace scenarios: decision-making under pressure, resource allocation, negotiation, strategic thinking — but set against the backdrop of Kolkata's streets, monuments, and culture. The city wasn't just a backdrop; it was an active ingredient. Navigating Kolkata's complexity became a metaphor for navigating the complexity of leadership itself.

How was the programme delivered?

Teams of senior leaders moved through Kolkata's landmark locations, encountering challenges that demanded the same skills they use every day at work — but stripped of the safety net of titles, hierarchy, and familiar environments. Out in the city, everyone was just a teammate trying to solve the next problem. The 6 local experiences were carefully sequenced to build momentum — early challenges to warm teams up and establish dynamics, mid-quest challenges to push collaboration and decision-making, and a final experience that brought everything together. Cultural immersion was threaded throughout, giving the programme a sense of place no conference room could replicate.
